![]() | "I would like to thank Destination Halifax for the wealth of knowledge and assistance they provided during the planning of the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) and the Canadian Society for Psychomotor Learning and Sport Psychology (SCAPPS) joint annual conference and general meeting "Building Bridges 2006." From my first contact with Catherine Porter and the "request for proposal" from the hotels in the Halifax Regional Municipality was invaluable. We were able to easily see who could accommodate our needs. We also used promotional materials including a great video and photos that Destination Halifax can provide. Having Sarah Hennebury at the conference as a travel consultant to help ensure that our delegates knew where to go was an unexpected service that was well appreciated. We used a number of the members of Destination Halifax including the Alexander's Keith Brewery, Basil's AV, Casino NS, Fundy Textile and Design, Global Convention Services, and the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront." In June 2006 I organized the annual meeting of American Astronomical Society's Division on Dynamical Astronomy at Saint Mary's University, which had 70 astronomers and astrophysicists from around the world in attendance. It was a marvelous scientific conference, in part due to the efforts of Destination Halifax and the Ambassador Club, who helped with the many dealings I had with the hotel and other conference vendors. I can happily recommend Destination Halifax and the Ambassador Club to anyone planning a conference in the Halifax area." Dr. Joseph M. ![]() | "Planning an event such as an international conference can be a daunting challenge for anyone, novice and veteran alike. The Planning Committee for the International Personnel Management Association - Canada (IPMA-Canada) 2006 May Conference on Human Resources spent hundreds of hours over two years to ensure optimum success. We had a high level of confidence in our team. Their professionalism and diligence were fundamental to the caliber of event we had. That notwithstanding, planning a conference was a first for many who accepted working committee portfolios well outside the field of human resources. The spotlight in May, 2006 was on Halifax as IPMA-Canada celebrated its 100th Anniversary as Canada's only National HR Association and only association that provides a national designation. Therefore, along with the multi-faceted work involved in planning a conference, the bar was now raised to deliver the best event in our association's history. We needed unique ways to "put Halifax on the map" and capture the interest of our target audience. Destination Halifax staff not only provided our planning groups with solid advice and materials but they also became directly involved at our committee level, lending structure to our strategy. The first meetings with Destination Halifax established a "one on one- relationship" that continued throughout the two-year planning period and we were never disappointed in the help we received. Our hats go off and our thanks go out to the Destination Halifax Team. " Janet Lee and Jerry Dodson - Service NS & Municipal Relations (International Personnel Management Association) | ![]() |

The 132nd Annual Supreme Council Sessions of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Canada achieved success in large part due to the support and guidance received from Destination Halifax. There genuine interest for the success of our Sessions was a great inspiration. The expertise and willingness to assist from Destination Halifax is a definite asset when planning an event of any size." D. Hosting a meeting of 2000 + international delegates can be challenging in any city, however, from what we have seen so far, there is no doubt our event will reach new heights of success in Halifax."
